My department got stuck with Candyland as a theme and I’m in charge of the tunes. Here’s a rough draft (and unedited) version of one of the tracks I’m working on. Definitely thinking about going with a more general Halloween plus candy-referencing theme to expand my mix catalog.

That’s sounding tight Derek! I have just one suggestion- instead of a really long rap part at the beginning and a long original part on the end- can you mix it up so parts of the song are refrains that break up the rap part? Just a thought.
Gracias. Yeah I’ve got some ‘concepts’ in the work that I’ll release all at once. All the tracks I’ve posted so far are all ‘live’ and not edited through editing programs. I’m trying to dabble in those too to make some deeper mixes. I’m really trying to avoid purchasing any controllers. I’m also working on my scratching skills – right now they’re ok for intros and outros but I’m hit or miss during an actual song.
Cool . I love the main Def Leopard track you chose. It might be cool to mix in there short snippets (like a phrase or sentence) of other candy-related songs or stuff from “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.” Here are some songs you could pull phrases from:
“Laffy Taffy” by D4L
“Sex and Candy” by Marcy Playground
“Candy Shop” by 50 cent
“Tootsie Roll” by 69 Boyz
“Candyman” by Christina Aguillera
“I Want Candy” by Aaron Carter
“Lollipop Luxury” by Jeffree Star
“Candyman” by Aqua
“Scream for my Ice Cream” Blood on the Dance Floor
“How Many Licks” by Lil’ Kim
Some of these, of course, might not be appropriate for a work party. Ha!
Good luck. I’m excited to hear the final product.
